Position Overview

Manage all yard operations for safety, quality, and efficiency. Receive materials and goods, supervise loading and unloading, as well as staging of products, and maintain an organized, clean yard. Monitor all tracking systems and KPIs. Plan daily tasks for sub-teams. Manage rack system and truck & trailer dispatch efficiently. Train, evaluate, and schedule personnel to meet shipping and receiving goals. Ensure all equipment and resources are inspected, certified, well-maintained and ready to perform.

Essential Job Functions

· Administer all work yard operations and ensure compliance with safety policies.

· Maintain clean and orderly yards at all times.

· Maintain clean and orderly storage facilities and utilize an in/outbound bay system working with the Good Receiving Team.

· Perform surveys and analyze results to implement all safe work procedures.

· Coordinate with supervisor and receive all materials and prepare necessary paperwork for same.

· Ensure proper handling of all materials and store it appropriately in designated areas.

· Monitor inventory of yard supplies and place purchase orders as necessary.

· Manage the rack system efficiently, organize and use the yard space optimally

· Manage the Truck & Trailor dispatch

· Request work orders for the Maintenance Team for all equipment and prepare daily inspections to submit to the Maintenance Foreman.

· Monitor loading and staging of materials (walls/Hollowcore/hardware) to ensure safe and efficient transport to job sites.

· Ensure trailers are ready to empty the bays, and all product is stored correctly.

· Monitor work of employees (organize shift patterns, breaks etc.) and initiate disciplinary actions as required.

· Train staff to develop and achieve all work objectives and evaluate performance regularly.

· Perform appraisals for staff, evaluate work and recommend changes as required.

· Receive all load lists for an upcoming week from Dispatch. Communicate with the Plant Manager to understand when the product will be ready to strip and manage the shunt truck driver, Mijack operator and shipping staff to unload trailers to the correct yard location.

· Stage empty and loaded trailers in an efficient manner.

· Identify trailer numbers for external drivers to make collection efficient and timely.

· Proactively collect hardware lists and layout drawings from the Project Management. Manage staff to ensure all necessary hardware and drawings are on the correct trailer.

· Prepare BOLs and ensure they are ready for each driver along with a map to site.

· Communicate with trucking companies to agree collection times, and to communicate any changes in schedule.

· We expect the incumbent to spend a portion of the time planning and directing work – and a portion of the time leading by example. Tasks may include occasionally covering Mijack Operator, loading trucks, and moving products in craneway.

Note: Employee may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Daily

· Ensuring visual inspection of all lifting equipment

· Staff scheduling

· Timesheets

· Load List/Driver Sign-off

· Answer site supervisors’ timing queries.

Weekly

· Safety meeting

· Payroll reporting

· Collate upcoming weeks’ schedule – gather materials/drawings.

Monthly

· Equipment safety inspection and certifications.

· Inventory reporting

. Staff supervision.

Other Skills/Abilities

· Ability to read and understand load lists and erection drawings.

· Ability to create and print maps to the site.

· Ability to communicate with stakeholders.
