Job Title: Project Coordinator

Since 1972, Fritz-Alder Precast has been producing and installing precast concrete products, leading the way through innovation. Fritz-Alder is growing again and seeking a full-time Project Coordinator.


The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the assigned Fritz-Alder Precast/Alder Concrete Group project activities. They are expected to plan, coordinate, and organize various activities of a construction project and work with various members of the project team and the client to make sure goals are met on time, under the direction of the Project Management Team. This position provides a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to be exposed to and interact with multiple disciplines at the company, such as Estimating, Design, and Construction team members.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Early involvement in the preliminary design process of projects to confirm compatibility with project estimates, production capacity, and common construction practices.

  • Help maintain project design schedules and requirements.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage several tasks and work as part of a team or individually as required.

  • Readiness to take initiative with a flexible attitude and ability to deal with changes through different project phases.

  • Maintaining comprehensive project documentation, including, but not limited to, Engineering Drawings, SIs, RFIs, and site and safety reports.

  • Assist with creating and maintaining schedules (Design and Install schedules) and provide updates accordingly

  • Assist in coordinating design conflicts, site issues and discrepancies.

  • Review and coordinate project changes with project stakeholders. Review schedule and cost impacts with the PM.

  • Assist in preparing Schedule of Values (SOV) for invoicing purposes.

  • Review shop drawings before submission to client” i.e. rebar, PC stairs, etc.

  • Set up and maintain all project files once the project is awarded.

  • Manage and expedite site drawings, ensuring the site and our sub-trades have the most current drawings.

  • Co-Chair project start-up and coordination design meetings as required.

  • Attend project meetings as requested.

  • Plan and execute corrective actions when necessary and work with the CM to resolve challenges.

  • Oversee and control shop drawing submittal/approval process.

  • Identify work outside of our scope and track work orders diligently

  • Assist the PM with obtaining Change Order pricing from subcontractors/suppliers.

  • Ensure deficiencies are corrected and floor sign-off sheets are completed promptly.

  • Assist the PM with handling the closeout of projects by obtaining final building sign-offs, ensuring the completion and resolution of all outstanding work, and submitting final project documentation.

Qualifications & Education Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma in Construction Engineering (CET diploma) or Civil/Structural Engineering would be an asset.

  • Previous experience with precast structures is an asset.

  • Minimum 3-5 years in project coordination experience.

  • Proven experience handling the coordination of multiple projects.

  • Proficient in various Microsoft computer applications, MS Project, Excel, Word, Outlook.

  • Willingness to travel within Southern Ontario if required; must have a current, valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to read Architectural, Structural and Shop Fabrication drawings.

  • Ability to coordinate drawings, and find errors, omissions and discrepancies.

  • Apply a solid understanding of general construction methods and materials, specifically structural elements.

  • Strong understanding of inspection and testing practices for soils, rebar and concrete.

  • Strong understanding of construction management documentation i.e. RFI’s and SI’s.

  • Knowledge of Procore Construction Management Software would be an asset.
