Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering and Design, the Precast Structural Engineer will work closely with our employees, clients and project-specific team members. The engineering position requires someone with good communication, time management, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills to provide structural design services and ensure all project deliverables are completed with absolute Engineering integrity, lead our drafting department, and participate in industry associations.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and oversee design calculations and analysis, technical specifications, and Engineering drawings for various precast concrete elements
  • Communicate and resolve conflicts and discrepancies in project documents with Architects, Engineers, and other team members
  • Design precast concrete repairs for production and installation departments when required
  • Accurately review and stamp production drawings for precast Hollowcore slabs, solid slabs, structural and architectural walls, as well as other various precast products
  • Ensure all project deliverables are compliant with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications
  • Work to maintain construction schedules
  • Ability to mentor and guide Junior Engineers (EIT)
  • Leading project drafting teams in delivering successful project outcomes while developing new standards
  • Work closely with our Quality Control department
  • Review sites and sign off on installations
  • Participate in industry associations

Qualifications & Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited University
  • P.Eng. designation in Ontario (required)
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in structural design primarily in precast and prestressed concrete structures
  • General knowledge of building construction
  • Familiarity with Precast Plant's CSA audits is an asset
  • Leadership skills include the ability to delegate, inspire and communicate effectively
  • Demonstrable record of successfully designing and delivering precast projects
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of various building codes and design standards
  • Proficient in various structural analysis software, AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office
  • Valid G driver’s license
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new systems and product improvements
